The Arts

“Every child is an artist.  The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”

Pablo Picasso

About My Art

My Daddy and Papa have always loved art, so I grew up in a home surrounded by art from around the world.  When I started preschool and brought home my first piece of art (a rabbit made out of construction paper with a cotton ball tail), my parents immediately scanned it and put it in a book for me.  Now I am going in to 5th-grade and every single piece of art I have ever done is archived and in professional art books.  Because of that I have always seen myself as an artist.

Everything is art.  And we make art all the time.  I think people forget that.  They think art has to be a certain way and they judge their own art as bad.  I know I am a good artist right now at 10-years-old, but I hope I can remain an artist once I grow up.

I have been learning about art all of my life and I am going to share some of my art here with you.  I am still learning and taking all kinds of classes.  I hope you can see that I am serious about art.  To be good at art you have to practice at it - just like writing and karate.  You have to build your art muscles.

Since my two dads always archive every piece of my art, I decided that I wanted to do something important with my art.  I have made a set of cards with my art on it to sell with 100% of the profits going to Heifer International.  Their goal is to end hunger and poverty.  The profits will help me purchase animals for a family that will help them support themselves.  If I give chickens, they sell the eggs.  If I give cows or goats, they sell the milk.  When any of the animals have a female baby, they give it to another family.  They call this “passing on the gift.”  That is what I want to be a part of.
